Although Lascaux II is a replica, because of that you actually see more than you could in the original!  

You see over 90% of the paintings that are in Lascaux.

No computers were used - just the

same materials and techniques our ancestors used.

You will be over-awed at the size, scale, colours and wonder ‘why did they do it? what drove them?’

 

Font de Gaume is indeed a rarity!

It is the only polychrome (multicoloured) cave

of its type in the world open to the public!

There are 230 exceptional wall paintings. Numbers are restricted to preserve this fragile monument - it will have to close at some time in the future to protect it, so make sure you see it!

 

At Les Combarelles there are 600+ complex, multi layered engravings - the ‘Drinking Deer’ being the most famous. You can feel the power of Ice Age beliefs in this intimate experience.
