Les Rosiers is a very peaceful and lovely place. We enjoyed our holidays very much. The weather was fine and sunny. Dirk has finished two perches in the Vezere which tasted very fine with the fresh herbs from the garden. Sophie liked the swimming pool and the garden and Clemens the hedgehog which visited us at the evening. Clemens also learned how to swim in deep water without waterwings! The Perigord is such a great place and two weeks are too short to see everything. Prehistory, castles, churches and a very nice nature. Last but not least a great “Thank you” for Judie and Steve. Everything was fine. Thank you for your hospitality. Maybe we come back next year.

We had an absolutely fantastic holiday in the Perigord! Les Rosiers is a wonderful place to stay: it’s a charming, ideally located and completely equipped holiday home. Your hospitality made it an even more wonderful experience. Our children will never forget the hours they spent in the swimming pool. We will certainly recommend Les Rosiers to friends and relatives and maybe we will be back one day.

This is our fourth visit; a fourth episode of bliss. Montignac and Les Rosiers lull you into a dreamlike state - a timeless land where the sun shines, the food and wine are sumptuous and the people are wonderful. Especially Steve and Judie, who are great fun and also deeply knowledgeable and interested about the history of the area. We visited and revisited many caves - and we need to come back and see them again. Steve point out the mysteries, the delicacy of the art, the sheer beauty of the cave art. Special thanks to Steve for telling us about the Abri Cro-Magnon - utterly fascinating - there should be more of a story at this most amazing site in Les Eyzies......
The hone coloured houses, the great valleys, the pretty towns and villages - so much still to drink in, absorb, learn about, be a part of....it feels like home....
Thank you Steve and Judie for your hospitality and kindness and recommendations for places to visit. Two weeks is just not long enough!
From the from the first moment we felt very welcome at Les Rosiers and although we only spend few moments together, you were always available and prepared to advise or help.
Again we shall dream about this house, this area; and again we will return to this ancient world.....

As the weather was not always what we hoped it to be, we found shelter in your charming and well equipped house, pleasure reading books and watching of the DVD’s, but most of all we (especially the kids) enjoyed very much the swimming pool. Thank you and kind regards. Michael, Anouk, Noor & Noa, Beringen-Paall, Belgium. July 2011
Dear Judie and Steve - since our email contact we felt already welcome and when we arrived, the feeling was there too. We had a great time. The house was beautiful and everything we needed was available. How nice to have your own swimming pool! Judie gave us some tips for trips in the neighbourhood and they were very great.
Judie and Steve, thank you very very much for this wonderful vacation. Best wishes.

The following comment is from a family who stayed at Les Rosiers on a self catering basis and went out for days with Steve as their guide:
We had an absolutely smashing time while enjoying Steve & Judie’s wonderful hospitality. Steve’s passion for archaeology rubbed off on us and we now see the various cave paintings and art whether they are facsimiles in Lascaux II or the real thing in Font de Gaume, Rouffignac, Les Combarelles and Grotte de Pech Merle with a different eye; a more sympathetic eye as well as a greater sense of wonder - these prehistoric people living tens of thousands of years ago were very much like us as demonstrated through their expression through art; perhaps they also had hopes and dreams like us.
Judie has been fantastic in looking after us and making sure we were all comfortable; and Steve most patient when I mostly slowed down the group while taking photos. All the recommended places to eat, courtesy of Steve were most delightful; particularly our dinner at ‘Le Chateau’ at St Genies. We managed to do almost everything we came here to do - except for canoeing as the weather wasn’t co-operating (this, was, of course beyond Steve & Judie’s control!) Thank you for a most enjoyable time. Chris, Christina & Nichola - Phoenix, AZ, USA and Malaysia ,June 2011
Lovely house, beautiful location, Steve & Judie wonderful hosts and the pools great. Visited Thonac - good auberge for evening meal. Flanagans in Montignac is a lot better than it sounds whereas the Hotel de la Grotte says it all! (we thought!) but very entertaining, but beware wine lists. We'd love to come back.

We’ve had a wonderful, relaxing fortnight at Les Rosiers. So much to see nearby which was particularly good with a little one needing a midday nap! The kids (and therefore all of us!) particularly enjoyed La Roque St Christophe, Pre-histo Park, Tamnies Lake and, of course, the wonderful swimming pool. Thanks for having us!

Our third visit to Les Rosiers, and as always, we were made welcome, Steve and Judie are wonderful hosts. Their attention to detail and organisation were second to none. Again we used Steve to guide us - Don’t think of a visit to this region without booking him as a guide - his insight and knowledge never fails to amaze us. This time we visited Lascaux II and it was worth the wait. Once again we have realised that there are still plenty more things for us to do in the area, and a fourth visit isn’t out of the question!
Another lovely stay. This year we made good use of the bikes and had some lovely afternoons cycling to Montignac. Steve showed us some interesting ‘new’ places which we’d not had a chance to visit before and gave us much more information about the cave art and medieval history than we could have learnt had we not had him as our guide. Thanks to both Steve & Judie for such a lovely stay and a couple of very enjoyable meals together. Great choice of restaurants as usual. Alexa

It was a very, very nice holiday! Perfect area, a lot to visit, and nice weather! The kids were extremely happy with your swimming pool!
Thanks for the nice accommodation, the tips you gave us. Many thanks.

We spent a lovely holiday. One week was too short to enjoy and visit everything here in the area. We loved the caves and Steve’s guiding. It was very personal.
The pool is our kids dream!
We love the house, the pool and your kindness. It’s a holiday to remember and a place to come back.

We feel like we just spent a week with family. Thank you for sharing your home and love of this area with us. The kids love the pool and garden and I can only hope that what we have seen and heard from Steve sparks a life long love of history for them. Thanks again.

A wonderful long time to remember holiday comes to an end. We’ve so enjoyed our stay in your lovely home. Your warm welcome made us feel at home the moment we settled in the house. A lot of things to see and always some insight comments from Steve made our holidays very interesting. Thanks for coming with us to Lascaux II, even if it was a last minute decision. It was enriching our experience!
We wish you all the best and we hope to see you again. Definitely, we’ll pass on your co-ordinates to our friends. Kind regards

Lovely to see you both again after so many years! The house is lovely, made even more so by the beautiful and peaceful surroundings. Mark & I really enjoyed our Caves Tour and to have a fabulous lunch with you and the rest of our clan was great. Thank you for a lovely holiday. Hope it’s not so long before we see you again.
